Jim McCabe's front 9 musings . . .

1 – Tough year for those wearing frog logos

Not the sort of perfect season we envisioned for Boston Common Golf. Five TGL games played, five games lost. Still, if Hideki’s up for it, let’s have a Duck Boat parade.

2 – Does Pirate’s Cove get the nod in ’48?

Besides a few lads in the golf media, who really gives a flying elbow that the 2044 Walker Cup will be played at Pine Valley? The kids who’ll be on that team haven’t been born yet.

3 – Just why it’s silly upon silly

I figure by 2044, the best 15-and-16-year-olds will be pros, middle-schoolers will be demanding NIL money, and the Walker Cup will probably be looking at the best of the best from U.S. Kids Golf.

4 – Different priorities

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why the living room carpet is rolling 12 ½ on the Stimp and the dining room rug is at 11. Was perplexed all weekend, but did I receive any insight from my wife? No. She was upset. “Why is the living room coffee table turned on its side?” And, “where did the dining room table go?” Honestly, my game is going to suffer for her furniture.

5 – Seems a fair and just stance

I’m thinking that by law you should not take more than two years off between visits to Bandon Dunes.

6 – You’re kidding, right?

A friend asked me, “When is the Masters?” I didn’t answer him because he’s now a former friend.

7 – Might be a few years, though

What will be called first – a slow-play penalty on the PGA Tour or traveling in the NBA? Bookies have it at traveling +500.

8 – Not a big fan

Don’t take this personally, but good riddance to “The Bear Trap.” Awful holes.

9 – Sometimes, you get what you need

Mick Jagger at the Oscars in place of Bob Dylan? Huge thumbs up.
