Jim McCabe's front 9 musings . . .

1 – Homework will be good for them

Not that I’m obsessed with golf, but when the application asks for my age, I write in that “I’m 1-under at Wannamoisett” or sometimes it’s “4-under at Pebble Beach.” Hey, I know the answer but let them do a little research.

2 – Better to keep it a secret

Please keep quiet about this rush of fantastic October weather that we’ve had. Or else, next thing you know all those fair-weather golfers who put their clubs away in mid-September will be coming back.

3 – It’s important to look good

Gray is grossly underrated as a classic look to golf pants.

4 – Round after round, so good

The answer is: Smucker’s Uncrustables. The question is: What was the most consistent part of your game this season?

5 – He’s getting good at being sorry

Man, between Presidents Cup behavior in Montreal and locker room anger in South Korea Tom Kim is an international apology machine.

6 – Something just feels wrong

Sounds like pro golf leadership has been reading the MLB playbook on how to reduce itself of minor leaguers.

7 – Join the causes

My political signs are up. “Play It As It Lies” and “Pick Up Your Tee” are issues that have my total support.

8 – Don’t give up on this, either

Oh, and continue to fight the good fight, folks. In match play, holes are “halved” and not “tied” and games are “all square” and not “tied.”

9 – Let’s not get ahead of ourselves

Easy there, Fido. It’s not a short par-5 until you hit two really good shots.
