Jim McCabe's front 9 musings . . .

1 – The ‘Aints are now the ‘Icks

Majesticks fans are borrowing those paper bags that used to be used years ago by New Orleans Saints loyalists.

2 – Little things please me

It’s a story of interest these days as to how you pronounce Ludvig Åberg’s name. But my focus is on the joy it brings to know my keyboard can produce the A with a ring. Å round of Åpplause.

3 – Grow the game? Nah, we're just growing the bank account

Two tournaments, two first-place checks totaling $7.6m – $4m for Joaquin Niemann, $3.6m for Wyndham Clark. If that’s not obscene and a reason to sour on the pro game then count me out of touch.

4 – Why we’re different

Rory McIlroy gets dinged two strokes because he didn’t know they changed the rule. Most of us save two strokes because we didn’t know it was even a rule.

5 – Confounding

Let me get this straight: Some pro golfers don’t want to play 18 holes with an amateur who might be hugely successful in business or music and be able to offer advice or laughs, yet they’ll rush to join LIV and play all year on a team with a guy who shoots 74 or 75 every day and has the personality of a plastic straw.

6 – There is character out there

To be fair, I’ve met some very nice plastic straws who didn't say one thing, then do another.

7 – Strange game

Craziest thing, but my skulled 9-iron goes the same distance as my skulled 7-iron.

8 – Good news, bad news

I’ve got a new swing thought this year. I just can’t remember it.

9 – Finders’ keepers

They could hold one hell of an Easter Egg Hunt at Pebble Beach searching for all the lost balls from the AT&T Pro-Am.
